Friends of the Library is a nonprofit advocacy organization.

Friends of the Library is a nonprofit advocacy organization which supports the Upham Memorial Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the community.
The Friends raise funds to be used by the Library for activities not ordinarily covered under the Library's operating budget since ongoing Library operations are paid for by city and county dollars. 

Fund raising activities

-A "Book in a Basket" fund raiser is held each spring. Members adopt a book that is supplied by the Friends group, they purchase 7 - 9 new items that reflect the title of the book and return all of the items in a basket with the book. The bidders use their library card to bid and each basket begins at the cost of the book.  This is the main fundraiser and raises over $1,000 which funds the majority of the library's programs.

- Membership is a fund raiser. Each family's membership is $15, a single is $10.  The membership drive is held in February of each year.
